Voltron Movie is Coming!

The Variety entertainment industry paper reports that New Regency, a 20th Century Fox-based production company, is nearing a deal with the Mark Gordon Co. on a live-action adaptation of the Voltron animated television series.

Voltron was the 1984-1985 American adaptation of the King of Beasts Golion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV robot anime series. Justin Marks wrote a script which resets the Golion-based Lion Voltron story which has been described as "a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City... [in which] five ragtag survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders."

Lawrence Inglee, and Jordan Wynn will produce if the film is greenlit. Marks is also adapting He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Green Arrow, and Street Fighter.
